Making Microbrews, Wine and Music Together in Lexington, MI

Lexington Brewery & Wine House 5475 N. Main Lexington, MI

By Connie Currie

If you are looking for a fun place to hear live music four nights a week (no cover), that is an actual microbrewery and winery, with food and a great staff, look no further than the Lexington Brewing Co and Wine House in Lexington, MI. The establishment is operated by Connie Currie and Steven Velloff, two Chicago based software types that relocated to the Lake Huron shore to grow grapes and be close to family.

The brewery resides in the historic Old Town Hall, which was built by the Masons in 1876.  The top floor was deeded to the Masons, the second floor was the Lexington Opera House, and the main floor, which is the current location of the brewery,  was the Lexington Fire Department. It remained a working fire department until around 1982, when it was sold to private commercial owners. Connie and Steve purchased the building in 2009 and restored it to its current condition.

Check out the impressive list of musicians appearing at this historic location. For more information about hours and specials go to www.lexingtonbrewery.com or call 1-810-359-5012.

Constance Currie, software exec & veteran, turned Award Winning wine maker, grows grapes and produces many wines across the vast “Wine-scape”.  A native Detroiter, after serving in the Air Force, she attended Wayne State University and then later in life studied wine making at the University of California.  Constance recently assisted in the planting of a vineyard for St. Monica/St. Augustine Parish in Detroit. Together with Steven Velloff, her husband and Brew Master, she operates the Lexington Brewing Co & Wine House in Lexington, MI May through October.  Also a musician, she is known to sing to her vines. Cheers!
