Living God’s Best: America faces moment of reckoning in 2020 election

By Joseph Hayes

It was the event everyone had patiently awaited.

This past week, Democrat Presidental candidate Joe Biden finally announced his decision for Vice Presidential running mate in Kamala Harris.

And with it, came the showdown everyone has awaited: Trump-Pence vs. Biden-Harris.

And what a showdown it will be. Why, exactly? Because much of this even about policy. It’s only about politics.

It’s all a matter of appearance, more so than anything else. The Democratic Party has been doing it’s best to appear as a party for the people.

Making promises and putting on a display that entails diving deeper into the frustrations people have continued to have with the government over time.

The Republican Party meanwhile stands with a President in Donald Trump that is popular with some and very unpopular with others, even after exceeding expectations in many ways before the onset of the coronavirus.
Who wasn’t doing well financially under Trump before chaos hit the world?

Israel and many Christians would call him friend. But the way he has often shown immaturity on Twitter is portrayed in a host of negative ways throughout the media.

So as we come upon the onset of the fall and with it surely an intense political season, it should be a time for Christians to be reminded of their role in the country.

What our nation lacks the most is not new policy or financial prosperity. What the United States of America needs is a reminder of what God it serves and the place it has been given throughout the earth by Jesus Christ, alone.
In many ways, America has lost itself, because it has lost proper perspective.

We have become a nation of selfish people, more so than of givers. We have forgotten that the second greatest commandment in the Bible outside of Loving and honoring God, is loving your neighbor as yourself.

Who can say that they live a lifestyle in which they treat others the same way they wish they were treated?

So as we look at our leaders, they serve as the perfect reflection of how we as a nation have fallen.

It’s not surprising that the youth have lost their way. It’s not shocking that we all could use a reminder of where we should stand.

We are a nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

We have truly lost our way because we have lost proper perspective on Him.

And that just leads to further divide and also a reminder of our troubling past. More so than in the last few decades, when our nation seemed to be pushing past some of the hurt of its past.

Now, we have raised a generation of people who have forgotten the standards that God provided America, that we continued to work toward.

Instead, we have become a nation of debt, while asking for more and more handouts.

It’s shocking that people can’t see what will come next. How can a country who became enriched because of its covenant with God and its giving mentality forget that without respect for Jesus Christ it is powerless?

What a lesson it will be. When everything we have taken for granted vanishes right before our sight. The United States faces a season of reckoning for the things it has sown throughout the earth.

The only reason destruction hasn’t occurred yet is because of the prayers of the righteous. The need to cry out to God for America’s protection is greater than at any other time before.

The Church in America has become divided in many ways as well. It has become powerless in some ways and lost its place within our country. But what country will we actually have if Believers don’t step up and lead?

The same people who always have too much going on to keep watch of the news, or are too busy to contribute to the discussion are now the only hope the country has for survival.

Placing faith in Trump or Biden won’t be the gesture that brings our country back to its feet. Only Jesus Christ can save America from a fate that will shock nearly everyone on earth today.

His people now have a choice among themselves: Will they be who He says they are? Or will they just try to run from the challenges they will surely face?

God has given us power to overcome every obstacle and challenge of the devil. Will we believe what He has granted through the Holy Spirit?

Just look around you. Many Christians are as afraid as the world. Maybe that’s why Jesus asked the first disciples: When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth?

It’s time we truly become more like Him. The fate of our nation depends on it.

To receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, or if you want to rededicate your life to Him, believe and say out loud: “Heavenly Father, I come to you in Jesus’ name. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe your Son Jesus was sent to the earth to die for me on the cross and He rose from the dead. I receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Jesus, take my life and use it for your glory. I choose to extend forgiveness to anyone who has sinned against me.”

Welcome to God’s family! Your spirit is born again! Choose to spend time learning more about Jesus in the Bible. You can study Him in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Seek God on what local church you should attend to learn more about Him and choose to put your faith on display by being baptized. As you continue learning about God, be His ambassador and continue sharing what you have learned with everyone. Where you go, the Lord goes. So choose to represent Him today.
