The Blessings In Motion

By Mark Maher

“If you saw the size of the blessing coming, you would understand the magnitude of the battle you are fighting.” Michele Jennae

“When the Israelites saw the king coming with his army, they were frightened and begged the Lord for help. They also complained to Moses, “Wasn’t there enough room in Egypt to bury us? Is that why you brought us out here to die in the desert? Why did you bring us out of Egypt anyway? While we were there, didn’t we tell you to leave us alone? We’d rather be slaves in Egypt than die in this desert!” But Moses answered, “Don’t be afraid! Be brave, and you will see the Lord save you today. These Egyptians will never bother you again. The Lord will fight for you, and you won’t have to do a thing.”  The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you keep calling out to me for help? Tell the Israelites to MOVE FORWARD.” Exodus 14:9-15)

I’m sure the only thing that the Israelites wanted to do was run, surrounded by water on both sides. Yet, God told Moses to stop, turn around, and face the Israelites. This had to be frightening and terrifying, with their kids in hand.  Yet, God promises I’ll be there with you.

God told Moses to stop bothering me. I’ve already provided.  Move forward.  The blessing is always in the movement.  Faith always moves forward.  Scripture doesn’t encourage staying stuck.  It encourages faith and trust. When was the last time you did something for the Lord that was not in your typical routine?

Keep it moving.  The blessing will be found in the movement.  Go forward.  When God opens the door, simply walk in. “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” (Revelation 3:8)

Who are the people Christ is speaking through.  Give me eyes to see and ears to hear that the blessing is in motion, that God’s working even if I don’t see it. Increase my faith.  Don’t let me rely on what I see.  Is it possible that God is sending specific people into your life with a timely word to speak life and encourage you when you need it the most.  I believe God uses people as a conduit to speak into your heart.

We always want to know.  We want to see it first.  But the Bible encourages us to move forward and the equipping will happen as we step.  “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.” (Job 37:5)

So keep stepping my faith. “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.” (Joshua 1:3) The purpose of God doesn’t always meet our expectations, but what if he wants to exceed it. Your blessings will be in things you never saw coming. “He can do more than you could think, ask, or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20)

The blessings often happen on the way to where you thought you were going. “I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:6) God is in control.  God is sovereign. It’s really not my will.  My job is to plant seeds in your heart.  It’s to be obedient to what God’s telling me.

Must have faith in the middle.  In the transition.  On the way.  This is where I’ll find trust.  In the unknown.  You might have your plans established, but God might be wanting to give you blessings you didn’t see coming. Keep walking by faith and giving God your best every single day.  We won’t always be in transition, soon we will be in God‘s promise land as long as we keep moving forward.
