Did you know that a lighthouse could be moved? The Peche Island Range Rear Lighthouse spent 75 years guiding ships through the junction of the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. It was retired in 1982 and scheduled for dismantling; instead, it was rescued and moved to Marine City. There it was renovated with a new tower to hold the original light. The Lighthouse is not open for tours. The gorgeous grounds it sits on provide lighthouse lovers with outstanding photo ops and a great story (open all year).
