Area communities to host Memorial Day services/parades

MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES/PARADES

For those who made a $200 contribution in Sandusky, the Sanilac County Flag Project will be leaving flags and plaques at the Sanilac County Courthouse Campus in honor of deceased veterans. 

Port Sanilac – The Port Sanilac VFW Post 8872 will be hosting several Memorial Day services throughout the area:

9:00 AM at Pine Hill Cemetery 

9:15 AM at Ridge Cemetery 

9:30 AM at St. John Cemetery 

10:00 AM at Washington Cemetery 

10:30 AM at St. Mary Cemetery 

11:00 AM at Port Sanilac Cemetery 

The Blessing of the Fleet will be held at Harbor Park at 12:00 PM, with a BBQ picnic to follow. All citizens are encouraged to attend.

Croswell – The Memorial Day Parade in Croswell is scheduled for 9:00 AM. It will begin on State Street and continue onto Croswell Avenue before concluding at the Croswell Cemetery. A second service will be held at 9:30 AM in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Lexington – Lexington’s Memorial Day parade and ceremony honoring those who died serving in the U.S. military will take place on Monday, May 29th. An 8:00 AM service will be held at the St. Denis Cemetery, with a parade starting at 11:00 AM along Main Street. The parade will stop at the Lexington Municipal Cemetery for a bugle and rifle salute.

Marlette is hosting its own Memorial Day Parade on Monday at 11:00 AM. After forming near Main and Euclid Street, the parade will proceed to the Marlette Cemetery where a ceremony is to be held at the Soldier Mound. 

Brown City’s Faith Baptist Church located on Cade Road is having a Memorial Day Service on May 29th in honor of those fallen. All services will be held from 12:00 AM to 11:55 PM for those who wish to attend.

Harbor Beach will be holding its community-wide Memorial Day Parade from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM through the downtown area. A service at Memorial Park will finish off the event, which is located along Huron Avenue. 

The Memorial Day Parade in Bad Axe is on Saturday, May 27th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A brief service in Argyle will begin at 1:00 PM at the Hillside Cemetery.
