Both teams traded each other the ball for the rest of the first half and Richmond headed into halftime with a 10-7 lead.

Almont came out of the locker room looking like a new team. The Raiders marched down the field led by Josh Hellebuyck as he completed a 9 yard touchdown pass to Gavin Dempz, making it 14-10 in favor of the Raiders. Almont running back Mason Smith took control on the ground the rest of the game adding two touchdowns and totaling up 125 yards rushing.

Smith added that “in the beginning we weren’t really prepared, but in the second half we just came back and punched them in the mouth.”

Michael Lulgjuraj added 98 rushing yards of his own for the Raiders adding to the dominate run game.

The final score ended in favor of Almont with the score of 28-10. Almont head coach James Leusby said the next thing for his team will be to “hopefully have a couple weeks to get some guys healthy.”

Richmond’s head coach John Kocher added on how his team can improve this season by saying, “we can handle our adversity a lot better” adding how they had a couple things go wrong for them and the kids were on their heels. Kocher also said “athletically they can always improve their execution but it was more mental lapses” that costed the Blue Devils their first loss of the year.

The Almont Raiders will improve to 7-0 being on top of the BWAC while Richmond just falls to 6-1.
