It doesn't sound like the Rams will sign another QB before season

Perhaps a secondary question following the Los Angeles Rams’ selection of Ty Simpson in the 2026 NFL draft was whether or not the quarterback room was complete with Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett and Simpson. Well, it sounds as if the Rams have no intention of adding another quarterback before the 2026 season kicks off.

McVay told reporters on Monday the team isn’t discussing bringing in a veteran at this point in the offseason, according to Rams reporter Adam Grosbard.

Before the draft, McVay had indicated the team wanted to bring in another veteran — someone like Kirk Cousins or bring back Jimmy Garoppolo. Cousins signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, though, and Garoppolo is still considering retirement. Then, after Simpson was picked, McVay said Simpson would have to compete with Bennett to be Stafford’s backup, but that didn’t necessarily mean either would be QB2.

As it appears now, the Rams will enter the 2026 season with Stafford as the starter and either Bennett or Simpson as his backup. Now, injuries or bad practices could change McVay’s mind, but it also wouldn’t make sense for the Rams to roster four quarterbacks if they don’t want to move on from Bennett.
