An intersection in Grandview Heights is closed due to a sinkhole that formed near the sidewalk.

“Until the crews assess the sinkhole on Tuesday, we will not know what caused it,” said Christy Clark, a spokesperson for Grandview Heights, in a text.

The intersection is a few blocks southeast of the Grandview Heights Public Library, near West First Avenue.

Clark said a resident notified the city of the sinkhole shortly after 1 p.m. on May 23.

When asked why the city opted to close the intersection given the sinkhole’s location near the sidewalk, Clark said “out of caution, the city closed the road due to safety concerns and the forecasted rain.”
