2026 CSUCI graduates honored in pair of ceremonies

CSU Channel Islands’ class of 2026 was honored in two ceremonies May 23 at the school’s quad.

More than 1,500 graduates participated in commencement at the Camarillo campus.

The ceremony at 9 a.m. hosted students from 16 majors in mostly humanities fields, including communications, English and psychology. The second ceremony at 3 p.m. included 14 mostly scientific majors, including chemistry, computer science and nursing.

Along with honoring the class of 2026, CSUCI awarded honorary doctorates to two Ventura County community leaders.

Javier Gomez, founder and artistic director of the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center, was awarded an honorary doctorate in fine arts during the 9 a.m. ceremony. Cynthia Herrera, vice chancellor of institutional effectiveness for the Ventura County Community College District, received a doctorate in humane letters at the 3 p.m. ceremony.
