BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball guard Aleksa Ristic plans to enter the transfer portal, per multiple reports.
His departure leaves the Hoosiers have just three returning scholarship players left on the roster with six players graduating (four starters) and three other players entering the portal. The transfer window for Division 1 basketball this year will be a 15-day period running from April 7-21.
Ristic faced an uphill battle as a late-arriving freshman signee out of Serbia.
He enrolled just days before IU’s foreign tour to Puerto Rico then suffered a lower-body injury in September. He was sidelined for the first month of the season — he made his debut in a 73-64 loss to Minnesota on Dec. 3 — and played a total of 31 minutes the entire season.
Ristic played professionally overseas for KK Dynamic, the top league in Serbia, for three seasons. In 2024-25, he averaged 13.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 39.3% from 3-point range. He was the team’s second-leading scorer.
He received interest on the recruiting trail from Oregon and Georgia Tech before ultimately signing with the Hoosiers.
Indiana opted out of postseason play after missing out on the NCAA Tournament as the fourth team out of the field. DeVries will now turn his attention to building out the team’s roster alongside Ryan Carr, his newly hired executive director of basketball.
