Amarillo Crime Stoppers seek info on Maryland Street shooting

The Amarillo Crime Stoppers is seeking the community’s help with the investigation of a fatal shooting last weekend, where a woman died at the hospital and no arrests have yet been made.

According to previous reports, officers with the Amarillo Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 800 block of South Maryland Street at approximately 2:55 a.m. Saturday, March 28.

At the scene, officers found multiple spent cartridge casings in the street and surrounding yard areas. Inside a residence, officers found Moneke Denice Glass, 40, suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said that Glass was inside her home and sleeping at the time of the shooting, and she was not the intended target.

Life-saving measures were performed until Amarillo Medical Services arrived. Glass was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

This case is currently being investigated by APD Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 2 and 4 a.m. to check for any video footage from surveillance systems, doorbell cameras, or nearby businesses that may have captured suspicious activity.
