What's happening in Columbus this weekend? Short answer: everything

It may feel like everyone in central Ohio will have a different reason to be in downtown Columbus this weekend.

From international athletes competing at the Arnold Sports Festival to major league sports matchups, concerts and comedy shows, the March 7 lineup is stacked with events drawing crowds across the city.

Early March often marks the start of Columbus’ busy spring events season, when sports schedules, touring acts and large conventions begin to overlap. This weekend may be one of the first of many packed calendars as temperatures slowly warm and locals venture back out.

Whether you’re headed Downtown for a game, a show or a festival, here’s a look at some of the biggest events happening around Columbus this weekend.

Arnold Sports Festival

The third day of The Arnold Sports Festival, one of the world’s largest multisport competitions, will take place March 7 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and other nearby venues.

The day will consist of weightlifting, youth dancesport, world martial arts, the Arnold Expo and Arnold Strongman Classic along with the Amateur strongman.

The event concludes March 8.

Columbus Brew Festival

Beer lovers may sample dozens of craft beers during the Columbus Brew Festival 8-11 p.m. March 7 at COSI.

The event features tastings from breweries across the region, food vendors and live entertainment while guests explore the museum’s exhibits.

Three Days Grace concert

Canadian rock band Three Days Grace will perform March 8 at Nationwide Arena.

The band, known for hits like “I Hate Everything About You” and “Animal I Have Become,” is bringing its latest tour to Columbus for a night of hard rock.

Kevin James comedy show

Comedian and actor Kevin James will perform stand-up March 7 at Mershon Auditorium.

James is widely known for his role in the sitcom “The King of Queens” and several comedy films.

Ohio State vs. Indiana men’s basketball

The Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball host the Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball at 5:30 p.m. March 7 at the Schottenstein Center.

The late-season matchup could have implications as both teams push toward postseason play.

Blue Jackets vs. Mammoth

The Columbus Blue Jackets face the Utah Mammoth at 7 p.m. March 7 at Nationwide Arena.

Fans heading to the Arena District should expect increased traffic with multiple events taking place nearby.

Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire

Major League Soccer action also arrives Saturday as the Columbus Crew take on the Chicago Fire FC at 7:30 p.m. March 7 at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field.

The match is part of the Crew’s early regular-season schedule.
