Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile was one of nine coaches to receive at least one first-place vote for the NFL’s Assistant Coach of the Year award.
The annual award went to New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who received 17 first-place votes. Campanile received two first-place votes — tied for the seventh-most among all assistants league-wide.
In his first season as the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator, Campanile’s unit was one of the best at forcing takeaways, along with this unit surrendering under 15 points per game during Jacksonville’s eight-game winning streak.
Campanile’s scheme proved hard to game plan for with the variety of different looks he would throw at opposing offenses. It was a highly malleable system that quickly adjusted to the opponent and excelled at maximizing the individual skill sets on the Jaguars’ defensive roster.
Campanile had head coaching interviews with three different teams this hiring cycle, but will return to the Jaguars for the 2026 season.
