Whenever Ohio State and Michigan get on the field, you can expect subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle jabs to be thrown. Whether it’s taking shots about one team being soft or another team resorting to illegal sign stealing to win, The Game has no shortage of back and forth.
One Wolverine has opened a can of worms that could lead to some bulletin board material for the Buckeyes. As if the flames weren’t already blazing, Michigan running back Jordan Marshall has thrown more fuel on the fire. A Cincinnati native from Archbishop Moeller High School, Marshall was asked why he chose Michigan instead of Ohio State. His answer was very blunt and raised some eyebrows.
He talked mostly about his relationship with former Buckeye running back coach Tony Alford, who, of course, left Columbus and crossed enemy lines prior to the 2024 season. He then went off the rails to say that he didn’t like “a few other people,” saying Alford left for the same reason. Marshall then goes on to call Sherrone Moore “the best head coach in the Big Ten and college football,” adding that he didn’t want to be around people who were “all about themselves.”
It’s one thing to stand up for your coaches and the relationship you have with those coaches, but insinuating that Ryan Day is all about himself? You would be hard-pressed to find a young man who played for Day to echo those feelings.

Interestingly enough, Marshall chose Michigan over Ohio State in March of 2023, a full year before Alford would trade in his Scarlet and Gray for Maize and Blue. Whatever the reason, Marshall is a Wolverine and seems happy with his decision.
Marshall will be back in action after sitting out the Maryland game with a shoulder injury suffered against Northwestern on November 15. Prior to missing the game last week, Marshall had put up two straight 100-yard rushing performances. Ironically, the Buckeye defense has not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season, and the Silver Bullets may have a few words for Marshall on Saturday after his comments about culture.
