Florida basketball will face TCU on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 27.
UF (4-1) rattled off its fourth straight win last week after defeating Merrimack 80-45, while TCU (3-2) defeated Kansas City 81-45. The Horned Frogs are led by Jayden Pierre, who has averaged 12.2 points per game. Forwards Micah Robinson and David Punch are each averaging over 10.5 points and six rebounds per game.
Florida’s frontcourt has produced nine double-doubles over the first five games of the season, including three straight by Rueben Chinyelu.
Chinyelu is coming off a record-setting 21-rebound performance vs. Merrimack where he grabbed the most rebounds by a Gator in 43 years and tied the O’Dome record
“We’ve, to an extent, broken it down a little bit,” Florida coach Todd Golden said. “We’re kind of through the first part of our schedule. And now, you know, with this MTE (multi-team event) and then two really, really challenging non-conference games leading into another one.
“It’s kind of an opportunity for us to prepare for conference play, where you’re going to see really good opponents back to back to back. And you know, obviously, right now, our main focus is trying to find a way to win this event, going out to San Diego. That starts with competing really well against a good TCU club on Thursday.”
