Angie Myers sent Philo girls soccer out winners on Senior Night | Top performers

DUNCAN FALLS — Philo wasn’t going to be denied on Senior Night.

Tied at 1 after Sheridan’s Mylie Forgrave scored on a high-lofting shot from long distance, the Generals looked to take control in their quest to win a piece of the Muskingum Valley League-Big School Division title.

But Angie Myers scored off a corner kick in a scrum in front of the net with 8:56 left, breaking the tie and sending the Electrics to an emotional 2-1 win on Oct. 9 at Philo Athletic Complex.

Sheridan (11-5-1, 5-1-2 MVL-Big) had two chances to score in the final two minutes, but goalie Paige Stockdale made a leaping deflection on one, and a header from close range on the second with three seconds left sailed inches passed the open net.

Philo (10-5-2, 4-3-1) broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Aubree Trout with 34:53 left in the first half.

John Glenn 8, New Lexington 0: Layken Cochran and Anna Wolfe scored twice for the visiting Muskies (11-4-2, 6-1-1 MVL-Big) in an MVL crossover win at Jim Rockwell Stadium.

Faith Lemon, Kendall Snider, Estelle Matheny and Layla Kiser also scored for John Glenn; Cochran and Matheney also had assists.

West M 4, River View 0: Debra Allen, Sydney Thornton, Daylee Foster and Lyla Johnson scored and Jayden Thornton had two assists for the Tornadoes (12-3-3, 5-1-2 MVL-Small) in an MVL road win. Kylie Fountain recorded the shutout.

Rosecrans 4, Circleville 1: Ryleigh Maxwell scored twice and Mallory Moody and Kenna McVicker also scored for the Bishops (11-5-0), who ended its regular season with a nonleague road win.

Ellesyn Gibson, Malorie Crooks, Elle Jones and McVicker also had assists.

Volleyball

Morgan 25, 25, 25, Crooksville 23, 16, 21: Myka Augenstein and Allia Rush combined fir nine aces and 13 kills in the Raiders’ MVL crossover win. Kaidence Searl added 17 assists and Lanie Haines eight kills for Morgan (7-14, 6-9 MVL-Big).

Meadowbrook 25, 25, 25, John Glenn 6, 9, 11: Chloe Goff’s five kills and Cecilee Perkins’ seven assists and five digs led the Muskies (10-12, 7-9 MVL-Big) in an MVL crossover loss.

New Lex 25, 25, 25, Philo 7, 16, 9: Gracie Newlon’s five aces and 15 digs paced the Panthers (19-2, 14-2 MVL-Small), whose domination in MVL play continued with a crossover win against the Electrics (7-15, 4-12 MVL-Big).

Layla Baker added four aces, four kills and nine digs, Caroline Dupler had three aces and seven kills and Jorja Burkhart three kills and 23 assists for New Lex.

Tri-Valley 25, 25, 25, West M 20, 16, 15: Ingrid Dittmar’s five kills, three blocks and 32 assists paced the Scotties (17-5, 11-5 MVL-Big), who also got 11 kills from Emma Smith in an MVL crossover win.

Alivia Reffitt added three aces and eight lills and Karley Bollinger five kills and four blocks. West M finished 6-10 in league play.

River View 25, 25, 21, 25, Sheridan 14, 22, 25, 17: Haley Balo piled up 25 kills and Layla Olinger added 19 with 12 digs as the Lady Bears (17-3, 14-2) won an MVL-Big School match on Senior Night on Oct. 8 at Luther Stover Gymnasium.

Kelsie Smith added 43 assists with two aces and 21 digs and Lindyn Fry had two aces and 23 digs for RV; Haley Clifton had 16 kills with eight digs, Mauri O’Brien 10 kills, seven blocks and 13 digs and Drew Fox 37 assists for Sheridan (11-10, 10-5).

River View 25, 25, 25, Coshocton 12, 14, 10

Boys Soccer

West M 1, River View 0: Aiden Metz scored the lone goal in the second half off a Luther Johnson assist as the Tornadoes (11-5-0, 7-2-0 MVL-Small) won a defensive struggle in the MVL against the defending Division IV state champions on Oct. 8.

Bryce Stant recorded seven saves to earn the shutout. Layton Massie had four saves in a hard-luck loss for RV (7-4-5, 6-1-2 MVL-Big), which took its first loss in league play.

Morgan 5, Cambridge 1: Luke Coleman scored twice and Jude Garber, Braylon Miller and Aaron Baker also connected as the Raiders (13-4) set a school record for wins in a nonleague conquest at McFarland Stadium.

Miller, Cole McGill and Peyton Coleman had assists for Morgan, which hosts Minerva at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 in Division IV sectional play.
