One person suffers minor injuries in Third Avenue apartment fire Oct. 7 in Wausau

WAUSAU − Firefighters spent three hours the evening of Oct. 7 fighting an apartment building fire on Third Avenue.

At 8:20 p.m., a caller reported a fire at Gaslight Apartments, 1025 S. Third Ave., Wausau Battalion Chief Tim Bingham said. When firefighters arrived at the scene, flames were visible from the back of the building.

The fire appeared to have started in the attic, Bingham said. Firefighters had to cut through the roof above the apartment where the fire started, he said.

One resident was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, Bingham said. Bingham had no details available on the person.

The SAFER, Kronenwetter and Easton fire departments assisted the Wausau Fire Department.

Bingham didn’t have information on how many people were displaced by the fire in the 19-unit building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
