About six months after the Trout Museum of Art left Houdini Plaza, its new home on 325 E. College Ave., will open to the public with a ribbon-cutting 9 a.m. Oct. 11.
For its first day, the museum has a full schedule planned with pop-up art classes and guest speakers, including pumpkin painting starting at 10 a.m. The museum has also scheduled guided tours of the new building at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Attendees should note that the downtown Appleton farmers’ market will be underway during the ribbon-cutting. College Avenue will be closed from Appleton Street to Drew Street 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the market runs from 8 a.m. to noon.
Features of the new building include exhibition space, art classes and a cafe. The museum will be open for regular hours after Oct. 11. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Museum admission is free through 2026.
The Trout Museum of Art shares the new building with Lawrence University. The former Trout Museum building at Houdini Plaza will become a Family Resource Center for First 5 Fox Valley.
