In what was easily the most entertaining highlight of the Chicago Bears’ 2025 season, and quite possibly across the NFL, quarterback Caleb Williams lit Soldier Field on fire with his 65-yard flea flicker touchdown pass to rookie Luther Burden in Sunday’s 31-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The touchdown was the first of Burden’s career, and was one of four thrown by Williams in the rout of the Cowboys for Chicago’s first victory of the season.
As incredible as the play was, it was almost doomed from the start, as running back D’Andre Swift took the initial handoff from Williams, but was nearly tackled by a Cowboys defender which disrupted his pitch back to the quarterback. To his credit, Williams was able to corral the later and in one quick motion, flung the deep ball to Burden for the touchdown.
On Tuesday, the NFL released an inside look of the thrilling play, showing that Swift was mic’d up during the game, and he addressed nearly losing the ball, and thanking his quarterback for saving him. Watch the video below to see Swift discuss the incredible flea flicker touchdown against Dallas.
All is well that ends well for Swift and the Bears offense, as they put on quite the offensive performance against a vulnerable Cowboys defense. It was quite the showing against Dallas who has former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus as their defensive coordinator this season, a bit of a revenge game for Williams and the players who were coached by Eberflus in Chicago last year.
