In advance of opening this fall at The Mall at Greece Ridge, department store Boscov’s is looking to hire people for management, sales and stock roles.
The company is hosting on-the-spot job interviews from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays on the JCPenney side of the mall between the former Burlington store and Dick’s Sporting Goods’ outside entrance.
Boscov’s is interviewing candidates on Saturdays by appointment.
Headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania, and referred to on the company’s website as “America’s largest family-owned department store,” Boscov’s first opened its doors in Reading in 1918.
The business prides itself on offering goods in a broad range of categories — apparel, housewares, furniture and beauty, to name just a few — at competitive prices.
Equally important is customer service, CEO Jim Boscov told the Democrat and Chronicle in March of this year.
“I think (our) most important difference is having people on the sales floor,” he said. “I don’t know about you, but I’ve been to other stores where you pick out something you want to buy, and you have to chase somebody down to take your money. It shouldn’t be that way. We hire knowledgeable, empowered people to serve, and people who like serving and know how to say ‘yes.’”
The store, located at Entrance 6, will host a soft opening on Oct. 31, with the grand opening celebration on Nov. 1.
Full- and part-time employees are paid weekly, and benefits include discounts on merchandise.
