The Slovenian national team took the court one more time for a EuroBasket 2025 group play game on Thursday against Israel. It had already clinched a spot in the knockout stage with a win over Iceland on Tuesday, and it had the opportunity to solidify its positioning on Thursday.
Slovenia won its last two games largely with defense, but on Thursday, it was excellent offensively. The team shot 54.4% from the field and had 28 assists, as well as 22 fast-break points.
It had five players score in double figures, including Luka Doncic, who was simply dazzling. He scored 37 points on 12-of-21 field-goal shooting and 4-of-11 from 3-point range, to go along with 11 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and one block.
As a result of this victory, Doncic and Slovenia will take on Italy in the round of 16. That contest will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, in Latvia, and the winner of that contest will take on the winner of the round of 16 matchup between Germany and Portugal.
