Wisconsin natives have been raking in the dollars this offseason.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Luke Goedeke, a Valders High School alumnus who attended Central Michigan, agreed to a four-year, $90 million extension in the final days before the start of the NFL season. The pact includes $50 million guaranteed.
The extension put him in the top four in annual average salary at his position, just ahead of Green Bay’s Zach Tom.
Goedeke already has 38 starts in three NFL seasons and 41 games overall. He made the lineup at left guard during his rookie season after getting selected in the second round of the draft and has spent the last two years at right tackle. Goedeke began his college career as a tight end at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2017 before transferring to the Chippewas program for three seasons.
Hunter Luepke, a fullback for the Dallas Cowboys, got a rare extension for a player entering his third NFL season, reportedly agreeing to a two-year deal worth $7.5 million.
Luepke, who attended North Dakota State and went to high school in Spencer, would have been a restricted free agent after the season. He signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and has 18 carries, 15 catches and 166 yards of total offense in his first two seasons, though as a fullback, blocking is his calling card. He also lines up occasionally at tailback and tight end, with work on special teams, as well.
Spencer is in Marathon County, near Marshfield. Valders is in Manitowoc County, roughly 12 miles west of Manitowoc.
