Outlaw Oyster, from Crafty Cow owner, to open second location in Bay View

Outlaw Oyster debuted in February as a pop-up concept and became a permanent fixture inside Crafty Cow’s Wauwatosa location, 6517 W. North Ave.

“We’ve seen incredible excitement around the concept and knew it was time to give it a second home,” owner Devin Eichler said in a statement. “This expansion lets us bring Outlaw’s energy to another part of the city and continue building something that feels fresh, fun and deeply rooted in hospitality.”

The Bay View location will serve the same menu as the Wauwatosa spot, a concept Eichler describes as “Northeast coast meets Northwoods,” a nod to fresh coastal fare with a touch of northern Wisconsin comfort.

Aside from a rotating menu of oysters on the half shell, the concept serves Connecticut-style lobster roll sliders, shrimp cocktail, smoked whitefish dip, Cajun smoked salmon sandwiches, lobster claw baskets, seafood towers, a burger and more.

Its bar program serves a selection of chilled wine, beer, spritzes, nonalcoholic drinks and house-crafted cocktails. Existing tap lines in the Bay View location might mean more draft beer offerings to come.

Outlaw Oyster also will bring over its popular twice-daily happy hour specials. Its 4 to 5 p.m. “Yappy Hour” includes discounts on select drinks, $3 “tiny tinis,” $2 and $3 oysters, and discounts on snack plates. On Wednesdays, Yappy Hour lasts all day. From 8:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Outlaw’s “Still Yappin’” specials include everything from the “Yappy Hour menu,” plus smaller size, late-night portions of some of Outlaw’s regular menu favorites.

Guests will enter Outlaw Oyster in Bay View directly through the entrance to the left of Crafty Cow. It will have seating for 35 guests, roughly the same as in Wauwatosa, but in a more open space, with seating at the bar for 12. Eichler is working on adding vintage decor and design touches to the space to infuse a bit of the retro, kitschy feel of its original location.

A soft opening is planned for Sept. 10 and 11, with the concept opening to the public on Sept. 12.

Once open, Outlaw Oyster’s Bay View hours will be 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Stay tuned for specials during Bay View Bash on Sept. 20, as well, when Crafty Cow will convert one of its streetside parklets into an outdoor oyster bar.
