Another skunk has tested positive for rabies in Wichita Falls.
The Wichita Falls City-County Health District confirmed this is the fifth positive rabies case in the past year.
Along with skunks, common rabies carriers in the area include raccoons, bats, coyotes and foxes.
“Always supervise pets outdoors and secure your trash to avoid attracting wildlife,” the district said in a Facebook post.
The district warned that while rabies is 100% fatal when symptoms appear, it’s 100% preventable with the right precautions.

The district urged residents to report strange or aggressive animal behavior to Wichita Falls Animal Control at 940-761-7824.
