Five hospitalized after serious injury crash in Canton

CANTON TWP. — Five people were hospitalized July 11 following what police are calling a three vehicle “serious injury” crash at the intersection of Warren and Morton Taylor roads in Canton Township.

Police said in a release a white Ford Edge, driven by a 66-year-old Canton woman, was heading south on Morton Taylor around 12:13 p.m. when it struck a black Ford Explorer that was traveling west on Warren.

The Explorer, driven by a 67-year-old Westland man, then collided with a blue Toyota Rav4 that was stopped at the light, waiting to turn from eastbound Warren onto southbound Morton Taylor.

The 30-year-old Plymouth man driving the Toyota was not reported injured.

A total of five occupants from the Ford Edge and Explorer were taken to local hospitals for treatment, Canton Township Police Lt. Michael Andes said.

The Canton Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene. Officials said the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
