Texas A&M wins NCAA Track and Field Championship in dramatic fashion

It’s been a stellar year for the Texas A&M men’s track and field team, and they capped it off in the best way possible—a national title.

It was only fitting that the title came down to the 4x400m race, as the day before, All-American Auhmad Robinson ran a 44.58 anchor leg split to take the Aggies from the back of the pack and propel them into the finals, ultimately winning the heat.

Heading into the final event of the meet, Texas A&M was sitting in third place, seven points behind the leader, the USC Trojans. A&M needed a top-two finish, and that’s exactly what happened. The squad of Hossam Eddine Hatib, Cutler Zamzow, Kimar Farquharson, and Auhmad Robinson ran their fastest time of the season—3:00.73—for a second-place finish, earning eight crucial points and leapfrogging them to the top of the rankings, tied with USC.

However, that was not the end of it. Texas A&M had to wait for an appeal from Arkansas against South Florida for interference to see if they would be the sole national champion or co-champions with USC. The officials rejected the challenge, leaving the Aggies and USC tied at 41 points each and named as the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field co-champions.

This title marks Hall-of-Fame coach Pat Henry’s 37th overall national championship and his 10th at Texas A&M. While previewing the outdoor championships, he spoke about how good this team was and how a national championship was attainable. Coach Henry has an eye for talent and proved again why he will go down as one of the greatest track and field coaches of all time.
