We all walk for variety of reasons. However, it’s the steps we take with purpose that often hold the power to make a difference in the lives of others. I’ve decided to walk on Saturday, September 9, 2017 for Blue Water Pregnancy Care Center (BWPCC) because when you see the difference a place such as this one makes, it’s hard to turn your back.
“Women deserve to be loved and equipped with the information she needs to care for herself and her family during unexpected pregnancy. BWPCC provides women and men with the emotional help and practical resources they need. BWPCC is a non-profit medical clinic empowering women in the Blue Water Area with factual information about their bodies, pregnancy, and options while providing emotional & practical assistance to those facing unplanned or untimely pregnancies. We offer free & confidential pregnancy tests, ultrasound, parenting classes, baby items, & community referrals. Supported entirely by donations from concerned and generous individuals, BWPCC helps nearly 1300 moms, babies and dads each year.” BWPCC
A note from BWPCC Director, Jennifer MacDonald:
On Saturday, September 9, at 9am, the Blue Water Pregnancy Care Center invites the community to participate in the 20th Annual Walk For Life benefit.
This family friendly walk will take place along the scenic River towards the Blue Water Bridge at Pine Grove Park. At this event, every member of the family can enjoy either walking or running the 2 miles. Walk for Life is a great way to spend time with family and friends, be active, and raise funds for a charitable organization all in one.
The easy two-mile Walk-For-Life will take place at the Pine Grove Park in Port Huron on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.
“This is my second Walk for Life. Women deserve to be supported during unwanted pregnancy. I want to help.” says Hannah, 17, a volunteer.
Walkers gathering pledges totaling more than $200, receive a free commemorative T-shirt. Walkers should register no later than Sept. 1, so they have time to ask for pledges. Walk Registration forms are available on-line (www.BlueWaterBabies.org), at your local church or at the pregnancy center, 1211 Griswold Street in Port Huron. Sign in starts at 8:30 am and the walk begins at 9:00 am.
Walk for Life is sponsored by Thrivent Financial, Oppenheimer, Michigan Mutual, Eye Care of Port Huron, Marysville Tire & Auto, Chemical Bank, Blue Water Controls, Omega Plastics

I understand that there are numerous local organizations that offer opportunities to walk, run, or even stroll for their worthwhile causes. I believe this doesn’t create a problem, but offers a chance to join a group you connect with. Feeling compelled to help? Do so. Blue Water Pregnancy Center is supporting a need in our area and we are fortunate that they have been for 30 years. This seems like a great way to give back.
