The Daughters of the American Revolution Ottawa Chapter MI-NSDAR hosted special guest speaker Dan Crocker at their recent “Red Poppy Celebration”.
Dan was brought in to speak on the history of the Red Poppy or also referred to as the “Buddy” Poppy. Dan has been involved in various positions with the VFW over the years, the organization known for the yearly distribution of the memorial flower.
Both the VFW and the Daughters of the Amercian Revolution have a very long history of helping out the communities they reside in. This service to the community is above and beyond their main objectives which have always been the care of veterans and championing the fight for rights for all those who have served.
Enjoy getting to know the history of the small little flower that we all know, and gain a new appreciation for its meaning.
We want to thank Dan Crocker for allowing us to film his presentation as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution for allowing us to attend.
