The lights are on in Suite 42 in the Port Huron Music Center building!
The Blue Water New Horizons Music groups have recently rented Suite 42 and are now using the room for rehearsal space for all of our music groups, the String and Full Orchestra, Concert Band, Swing Band (aka Sentimental Journey), Double Brass Quintet and a Green Band comprised of those learning to play an instrument.
The Blue Water New Horizons Music groups have aggressively scheduled a summer series of concerts in and around Port Huron. A highlight will be the three concerts at the beautiful surroundings of Lake Huron and the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse in June, July, and August.
Amassed concert of all Port Huron New Horizon groups (for its first time ever) is in the planning stages for late Spring.
Our ever-popular Halloween Spooktacular is being slotted for October.
The Blue Water New Horizons group is composed of 50-55 diverse musicians who have a whole lot of fun dedicated to one subject: playing music!
We are very pleased when someone new joins the group. I met the Band group some 10 years ago after I stopped playing during college. It took a few weeks or so to get the old lip back in shape and correct the habit I had in school of playing too loud, but I did it.
Come by and give us a look! You can hear us on Thursday evenings in good old Suite 42, located at 2700 Pine Grove Avenue between 6:30 and 8:00 pm.
If your talents include Strings, stop by Suite 42 on Wednesday between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm. If you find you would like to dust off your band instrument and join us, you will be most welcome.
If you haven’t ever played an instrument and would like to, we can teach you!
The Blue Water New Horizons Band was founded in 1998 by current director Patrick Dempsey & David Teeple. Recently, they celebrated their 20th anniversary of music here in Port Huron.
The band started out with only 8 members back in the old days but has since grown in size. Still, they wish to increase their numbers and help put music either back in the lives of those who played in the past or introduce music to someone who never got a chance to pick up an instrument before.
