4th Annual Stroll on August 7
The St. Clair County Health Department Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program invites community members to celebrate Breastfeeding Awareness Month by promoting breastfeeding success at the 4th annual Breastfeeding Stroll Blue Water River Walk on August 7, 2018. Festivities for families and children start at 10:00 and run through 12:00 noon.
This year’s theme, “Foundation of Life” promotes breastfeeding as the foundation of lifelong good health for babies and mothers. With no additional burden on household income, breastfeeding is a low-cost way of feeding babies and contributes to poverty reduction. Breastfeeding prevents hunger and malnutrition in all its forms, and ensures food security for babies. Educating families before babies are born and providing consistent, accessible support are keys for breastfeeding success.
The St. Clair County Health Department WIC program helps WIC Moms and babies attain their breastfeeding goals by promoting breastfeeding continuity of care throughout the community. Rebecca Campau, RN, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Andrea McCabe Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), and WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, provide professional, skilled counseling, education and support.
