Would you like to learn a new skill or renew an old one? Do you love music and would like to learn to play an instrument? The New Horizons Band is the place to be!
Join the Band. Membership age ranges between 18 and 90 years old. You will learn a new skill, meet new people who share a love of music and perform in concerts.
Blue Water New Horizons Band is having a membership drive. Drummers, clarinetists and saxophonist are needed. However, if you play or desire to play a different instrument, you will be welcomed.
It doesn’t matter if you have no experience! We will teach you. Instruction will be at your level. If you are unsure of what instrument you want to play, we can help decide which one is best for you. If you don’t own an instrument, you can rent one from the Port Huron Music Center.
Director, Patrick Dempsey will teach private lessons on your new instrument on Tuesday morning or evening depending on demand. The first four lessons are free. Afterwards, there will be a $5.00 charge per lesson. You will need to purchase a lesson book.
For the already experienced players, come to band practice on Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm. In case you need refresher lessons, contact Pat Dempsey at 810-300-0428.
The cost to be a member of the band is $75.00 per trimester.
The Band room is in the Port Huron Music Center building at 2700 Pine Grove Avenue, room 42 (upstairs). There is an elevator available for those who might need it.
For all those interested in becoming a member of the New Horizons Band, please come to our Orientation Meeting on February 12th at 6:30. New members can show up any time to join the band. No audition necessary!
Come join in the fun. We welcome all who would like to be part of a band! Meet new friends and play with others who share your love of music.
