State Rep. Shane Hernandez of Port Huron completed his March is Reading Month tour reading to over 800 elementary students while visiting 13 local schools.
“Reading is an integral part of a child’s development,” Rep. Hernandez said. “By promoting the benefits of reading to our children, we can help improve their education and lay the groundwork for future success.”
Rep. Hernandez extended an invitation to all public, private, and charter elementary schools in the 83rd District. He read “How Did That Get in My Lunch Box: The Story of Food” by Chris Butterworth which previously received the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Book of the Year award. The representative chose this book due to Sanilac County being one of the top agricultural counties in the state.
March is Reading Month is an annual educational program designed to recognize the importance of reading inside and outside of the classroom.
