Port Huron, MI – Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) is pleased to announce its April 2018 Employee of the Month, Melane Kerry, and its April 2018 Volunteer of the Month, Helen Stokes. LHMC is honored to have a strong team of staff and volunteers working hard to deliver high-quality care to the Blue Water Area.
Melane is an Occupational Therapist and has been with LHMC since February 2015. Nominated by her peers, they commented, “Melane is an extraordinary employee and deserves recognition for simply being a wonderful employee and strong patient advocate. She generates enthusiasm and energy that goes above and beyond all expectations. She is kind and compassionate and I am thankful to have such a dedicated employee on our team!”
Helen has been volunteering at LHMC since 2014 as a courier at the front desk. She was nominated by a fellow volunteer who noted, “Helen is so friendly, bubbly and warm. She makes those around her feel valuable and her infectious smile makes everyone feel good.”

Founded in 1954 by the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Lake Huron Medical Center (formerly St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron) is a 144-bed acute care hospital providing medical/surgical services, emergency care, cancer care, cardiac care, bariatric care, inpatient rehabilitation services and a vast number of other testing, health and medical services. Lake Huron Foundation
The Lake Huron Foundation is a non-profit organization that encompasses the People’s Clinic for Better Health, the Lake Huron Medical Auxiliary Volunteer Organization as well as funds for patient care needs, like the Pink Ribbon Fund, General Oncology Fund, and Patient Emergency Fund just to name a few. Our mission is to provide high-quality, cost effective health care to patients and families regardless of their ability pay for services. As a 501(c)(3), the Lake Huron Foundation is an extension of the Prime Healthcare Foundation. It is governed by a local board of directors whom provide oversight to the organization’s operations and assets. Throughout the transition to our new foundation, all gifts remained in a local financial institution. The funds will continue to be used following our donors designations to provide care to the most vulnerable members of our community.
