Inspiring Blue Water Artist: Melissa Leaym-Fernandez

artist at work

By Karrie Beck

When I first met Melissa, I knew I was meeting a yoga instructor, but what I didn’t know was that I was also meeting a local artist with a passion for artistic expression and a drive to encourage others to live healthier lives.

Melissa started her club, Fat Chicks Running, as a way to encourage women to love their bodies and get those bodies moving toward better health. Through her honest, light-hearted approach, Melissa inspires women to accept themselves as they are. She credits running as the thing that saved her life. To read more on her story, visit Melissa’s Blog.

Melissa Leaym-Fernandez and her Elephantworks Studio, showcases some of the most vivid and strikingly bold art collections around. Her “Love my Michigan” series encapsulates the heart of our own Blue Water Area- summer beaches and all its memories, and ‘winters in the woods.’

“Elephantworks Studio is about fine art, celebrating life, fun, family, and color.” Melissa Fernandez
