We Make a Difference!
This weekend we welcomed 50 participants to the Wetlands County Park to identify, collect and plant native plant seeds to establish these species in some of the bare spots where construction, trampling and wildlife feeding hindered an earlier seeding. Participants included National Honor Society and St. Clair County Community College students, workplace volunteer groups, families, individuals, and of course, several of our Stewards. Janet Fox, Charlene Kidd, Judy Lindberg, Tom and Laurie Dennis, and Nanette Meier (a.k.a. ‘Frog Lady’) provided support and entertainment. A special shout out goes to Jeanne Mackay and Barb Ford for their excellent leadership during the event and to Mike Edmondson for the many great action photos!
Planting seeds of native plants now will allow nature’s winter and spring freeze/thaw cycles to help them sprout and grow.
