Doing what I Do V10 (volunteer work with fellow stroke survivors)
I do what I do,
And I love doing it
Not for accolades or praises
Rather the inner peace and tranquility
I get from helping others
Offering hope, support and encouragement
at a time of uncertainty
like babes in the woods,
unaware of what you are unaware of
afraid of what is to come
In need of a caring friend
Tentative with each step
Mentally and Emotionally
Much like those tentative physical steps taken
Relearning how to walk
Taking those first steps,
with assistance, of course
The hope and support I give you
Seem minor to me
Compared to what you have given me.
Your unexpected accolades
a handmade poster
give to me the strength to continue
DOING WHAT I DO
One who traversed a mine field, already
Now showing others there is hope.
