The Lord’s Prayer from the Aramaic as spoken by Jesus

O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos, focus you light within us – make it useful:

Create your reign of unity now –

Your one desire then acts with ours, as in all light, so in all forms. Grant what we need each day in bread and insight. Loose the cords of mistakes binding us, as we release the strands we hold of other’ guilt.

Don’t let surface things delude us, but free us from what holds us back.

From you is born all ruling will, the power and the life to do, the song that beautifies all, From age to age it renews.

Truly—power to these statements—  May they be the ground from which all my actions grow:   Amen.

Our home was so Christmassy from Thanksgiving on each year.  The decorations went up, the house was lighted with multicolored lights, each time you opened the front door the smell of good things cooking greeted you.  We loved Christmas!  And believed in Santa!  It was all very magical and loving with lots of games being played, Christmas carols being sung, hugs and joy being lavished on everyone who came in the door.

When it was over we had new toys to play with, but there was always a bit of sadness that we would have to wait a whole more year till we could do it again.  It seemed as a child that it was about the gifts would get, but early on I realized the gathering of the family, the joy of being together that was the real gift.  My mom and my Grandma were the real magic at our house, I never knew how much work they put into Christmas until I started hosting the family parties, with small children under feet.  Then I knew what giving for my family meant, by New Year’s Day I was ready for that long winter’s nap.

When I moved away from my home town, Seattle to San Francisco, my mom, sister and niece lived in the same neighborhood.  Family around makes life real.  We love and trust each other enough to not have to share the same positions on things.  We pick each other up when we fall, and celebrate each other’s successes.  As life moved on, and I started serving at Unity in Port Huron, I made a wonderful discovery, I can make everyone part of my family!  I can love each person who walks through our doors as a special and unique part of this large and loving extended family.  I am filled with gratitude for this Unity Spiritual Family, where love IS felt, and lives are changed.  Each of us becomes better because we are together!
